Juilliard nights

Juilliard School performances are made possible by the generous support of Dinny and Lester Morse.

A summer partnership with the jewish museum

In collaboration with our neighbor the Jewish Museum, Cooper Hewitt is celebrating the great Brazilian Modernist designer Roberto Burle Marx with two Brazilian-themed performances: Harlem Samba on July 7 and Chief Boima on July 28. On these evenings, members of the Jewish Museum and its visitors may purchase discounted tickets of $10 each ($5 off regular admission) to Cocktails at Cooper Hewitt. Simply present a visitor sticker or membership card inside Cooper Hewitt’s 2 East 91st Street entrance. Cooper Hewitt visitors and members may enjoy free admission to the Jewish Museum on Thursday nights from 5-8 p.m. through August 18.

The undulating mosaic tiles found at the Copacabana Beach boardwalk in Rio de Janiero—site of Roberto Burle Marx’s iconic pavement design—are the inspiration for Cooper Hewitt’s black and white modular benches designed by National Design Award Winner Walter Hood and installed in the garden. Roberto Burle Marx is currently the subject of the Jewish Museum’s exhibition Roberto Burle Marx: Brazilian Modernist.
