Family Programs

Cooper Hewitt welcomes families to learn about design together through fun and interactive ways at the museum or at home. Drop in at the museum on the second Saturday of each month for immersive hands-on activities, discover the museum on your own, or explore Design at Home videos and more resources.

Activities are designed for youth ages 5–12 and their adult guardian/caregivers. Family programs are included in the price of museum admission, and youth 18 and under are always free.

Sign up for Design News to stay up to date on Cooper Hewitt exhibitions, programs, and more.

At home summer fun

Spark your child’s curiosity this summer through the National Postal Museum’s free virtual STAMP Camp!

From June through August, STAMP Camp delivers free hands-on STEAM activities by email designed to be completed at your own pace. The STAMP in STAMP Camp stands for Science, Technology, Art, Math, and Problem-solving.

Each week highlights resources from a different Smithsonian museum, linking postal history with exciting STEAM learning.

Join Cooper Hewitt in Week 5: Problem Solving and Engineering, released on August 20. Dive into postal innovations and design your own mail delivery solution. Then, extend the fun by creating a streetscape for your community.

Perfect for ages 6-12 with adult support. Registration must be completed by an adult guardian.
