Peer Eriksson and David Carlson founded Designboost in 2007 to share knowledge about design. David is well known in the international design world as a communicator and strategist, publishing the David Report that follows and predicts trends at the intersection of design, culture and business. He is a renaissance person, with interests in a band, a furniture and fashion company and a boutique store in the South of Sweden.
Peer Eriksson and David Carlson
Peer has twenty eight years of experience in communication and advertising, owning his own agency for half that time. He is the videographer and art director for Designboost. He shows up to interview someone on his own, chooses the location, sets up the camera and sound equipment, records the interview, films the B-roll and edits the final result. That’s renaissance productivity, and the result looks and sounds really good.
Part of the Designboost homepage, with examples from the Periodic Table
When you visit the Designboost website, you find that it covers events, media, resources, concepts and general information. The Events section gives information about design happenings and conferences, with interviews recorded at them – the next event is Design Beyond Design in the black house at Telefonplan, Stockholm, from February ninth to eleventh, 2011. I was lucky enough to be interviewed for a BoostCast at the Copenhagen design Week in the summer of 2009.

The Media section offers an on-line library of Designboost material, including 68 interviews with interesting design people, ranging from Stephen Burks to Hella Jongerius. Resource mixes community, events and interviews, and Concept is a collection of design examples. This whole archive makes a fascinating browse and continues to grow. Peer came to New York to interview me at the Cooper-Hewitt last November, for BoostReview #002, under the BoostMedia tab. We are hoping to see the link between New York and Stockholm flourish and expand.
