Every year, the Queensland-Smithsonian Fellowship Program provides the opportunity for one Queensland school teacher to travel to New York to work in the Cooper-Hewitt’s Education Department for the summer. They develop knowledge and skills to apply and share with students and colleagues back in Queensland as well as contribute their unique vision to programs offered by the Department. During the summer of 2012, Adam Jefford spent a few months with us at Cooper-Hewitt immersing himself in our approach to design thinking, and sharing his expertise developed over years of teaching high school art and design. Hear Adam’s experience of being the Cooper-Hewitt Design Fellow and his belief on how design can shape students’ learning.
