Join us for an exploration of STEM-discipline connections to design object conservation in a museum setting. Working with the Head Conservator at Cooper Hewitt, educators will explore the multidisciplinary, scientific processes involved in the conservation of objects in a museum’s exhibitions and collection. Educators will come away with an understanding of how the STEM disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and math are an integral part of conservation in the fields of art and design, building connections to bring back into the classroom. Educators will also have an opportunity to explore design thinking and the design process throughout the workshop. The workshop will provide educators with strategies to enhance STEAM connections and cross-disciplinary experimentation in the classroom.
