Cooper Hewitt concludes National Design Week with a day of hands-on activities led by National Design Award winners and guest designers. Audiences of all ages are invited to play designer and tackle design challenges in workshops, learn new design skills, and explore the museum.

Landscape Architecture | Design a park for a specific user.

Interior Design | Use pattern and form to design an interior space.

Fashion Design | Design a customized pocket.

Engage with Target in an inclusive design workshop.

WORKSHOP WITH SESAME STREET | 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m.

Explore character design to create a 2-dimensional muppet.

 

ABOUT NATIONAL DESIGN WEEK

Launched in 2006, National Design Week is held each year in conjunction with the National Design Awards. In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the National Design Awards, Cooper Hewitt will offer free admission to all museum visitors during National Design Week (October 12–19, 2019), courtesy of Target, and will host a series of free education programs broadening access to the vision and work of the country’s design leaders, inspiring people of all ages to engage with design and design thinking.
