Join us for a rare opportunity to visit the first floor of the museum when the galleries are empty.

Andrew Carnegie Mansion Tour 

Cooper Hewitt is housed in the former home of industrial magnate Andrew Carnegie. Learn about the history of the mansion and its transformation from home to museum. The tour will explore the mansion’s first floor, including the Great Hall, Drawing Room, Reception Room, Dining Room, Breakfast Room, and Conservatory.

ACCESSIBILITY AND WHAT TO EXPECT

• Format: This is an informal, guided tour led by a Cooper Hewitt Design Guide. Tours involve walking around the Museum and standing in galleries for extended periods of time. Standard manual wheelchairs, rollators, and portable stools are available for those who request them.
• About this space: This program will take place in person in the first floor galleries  at Cooper Hewitt. The museum is fully wheelchair accessible. There is an accessible restroom by the cafe. Read more about accessibility at Cooper Hewitt.
