WARP RECORDS IN THE HIFI PURSUIT LISTENING ROOM DREAM NO. 3

Join independent record label Warp Records for a series of listening experiences inside Devon Turnbull’s immersive sound installation HiFi Pursuit Listening Room Dream No. 3. Warp will feature a selection of releases from the label and beyond by designers and artists who have shaped the visual and sonic identities of Warp.

On June 6, American rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer Pink Siifu will activate the listening room. His deep and expansive discography weaves together neo-soul, free jazz, Southern hip-hop, punk, ambient, and experimental music. He will play a special selection of music to be heard through Turnbull’s large-scale, handmade audio system located in the historic Carnegie Library at Cooper Hewitt.

Designed to envelop the listener in sound that is as rich in texture as it is in emotion, visitors will experience realistic, natural sound from Turnbull’s sculptures and a chance to slow down and engage deeply in listening.

Please Note: Access to the HiFi Pursuit Listening Room Dream No. 3 is limited and on a first- come basis. If you have pre-purchased admission tickets and it is at capacity when you arrive, your ticket can be refunded.

AccessibiliTy & What to Expect

  • Format: Drop in to listen to the live operator’s music selections as they activate the sound system. Due to the limited capacity, if there is a line, visitors may be limited to 15 minutes in the listening room. Visitors will be notified when it is time to leave. Access to the HiFi Pursuit Listening Room Dream No. 3 is on a first come basis. If you have pre-purchased admission tickets and it is at capacity when you arrive, your ticket can be refunded.
  • About the space: The listening room is located in the museum’s historic Carnegie Library space. Some seating is available along with standing room. It is fully wheelchair accessible. There is an accessible restroom on the ground floor. Read more about accessibility at Cooper Hewitt.
  • Accommodations: Accessibility resources, including T-Coil, sound dampening headphones, and a priority line for visitors with disabilities, are available to support your participation. Ask a staff member or email CHAccess@si.edu for more information.
