Join designer Fan Kong for a hands-on workshop exploring the language of materials through bioplastics and bioglass. Inspired by Gaetano Pesce’s Nobody’s Perfect chair, this session considers how designers and scientists alike have reimagined materials as active, transformative systems.

The first half of the workshop will be focused on introducing the theory and practice of creating kitchen-friendly bioplastics, along with a gallery visit and case studies at the intersection of art, science, and design. During the second half, participants will create their own stained bioglass samples.

About the workshop series

Inspired by the objects in Design Across Time, this workshop series transforms looking into making by connecting collection highlights with the methods designers use to shape ideas. Led by artists and designers, each session invites participants of all levels to experiment and make while exploring how design techniques have evolved across centuries. Emphasizing curiosity and process over polished results, the series offers creative strategies to deepen how you see, think, and create.
