Barbara Mandel, Chairman, Beth Comstock, President, and Caroline Baumann, Director, invite all Cooper Hewitt members to celebrate the opening of

BEAUTY—COOPER HEWITT DESIGN TRIENNIAL
On view through August 21, 2016

Beauty—Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial, the fifth installment of the museum’s signature contemporary exhibition series, presents work by 62 designers from around the globe. With projects ranging from experimental prototypes to interactive games, fashion ensembles, and architectural constructions, the exhibition explores seven kinds of beauty: extravagant, intricate, ethereal, transgressive, transformative, emergent, and elemental. Why beauty now? Designers do more than solve utilitarian problems. Designers communicate ideas, stimulate the senses, and construct narratives about nature, culture, and making.

#DESIGNTRIENNIAL

Beauty—Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial is made possible by generous support from Edward and Helen Hintz, and Madeleine Rudin Johnson.

Additional funding is provided by Amita and Purnendu Chatterjee, August Heckscher Exhibition Fund, Margery and Edgar Masinter, May and Samuel Rudin Family Foundation, Inc., Ehrenkranz Fund, The Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation, Rockwell Group, and Esme Usdan Exhibition Endowment Fund.
