Earthworm numbers are starting to dwindle, which negatively affects crop production as worms are vital to the health of plants. A lack of worms can lead to crop failure as they help roots penetrate further into the soil and reach areas that are high in nutrients. They also help fertilize the soil. Our design, the Worm, can do the job that the earthworms do now, but at a faster speed to make up for their decrease in number. The Worm has hatches where it can dispense fertilizer directly to the soil as it moves, helping to increase crop production.
