Due to the federal government shutdown, Cooper Hewitt and all Smithsonian museums are temporarily closed. We will update our operating status, including the status of this program, when the shutdown is resolved.
Approach color with open eyes, using exercises such as “make three colors become four” and “four color worlds” working directly from Josef Albers’s teaching notes from the Bauhaus, Black Mountain College and Yale University. The workshop will be led by Saturated: The Allure and Science of Color curators and Meredith Mitten Andrews, an Albers Foundation Educator with a passion for learning by doing.
The active nature of the exercises makes this workshop great for designers and general participants as young as high school. All materials will be provided.
Saturated: The Allure and Science of Color is made possible in part by support from the August Heckscher Exhibition Fund, Judy Francis Zankel, PeclersParis, and The Josef and Anni Albers Foundation.
