How do our own biases seep into A.I. algorithms? Discuss artificial intelligence, human perception, and the future of design with immersive filmmaker Karen Palmer and social psychologist Emily Balcetis. A.I. is everywhere—in our phones, streaming entertainment services, and email grammar checkers. A.I. systems are tainted by human bias. What happens when A.I. seeks to quantify our emotions and predict our actions? Palmer is the creator of the acclaimed interactive film RIOT and a new project, Perception iO, created for Cooper Hewitt’s exhibition Face Values: Exploring Artificial Intelligence. Balcetis is Associate Professor of Psychology at NYU. The event is moderated by Carolyn Royston, Chief Experience Officer at Cooper Hewitt.
