2012 National Design Award winner Rebeca Méndez leads a master class exploring the themes on view in Rebeca Méndez Selects, and her research and practice around ‘artistic fieldwork practice.’ Méndez will also speak about the CounterForce Lab, a center she created within UCLA, School of Art and Architecture with a focus on art, design and environment.

This year’s National Design Award winners, Gail Anderson, Christina Kim, Gabriel Stromberg of Civilization, and Liz Gerber of Design for America, discuss the role of the designer in creating meaningful and impactful change. This intimate conversation will touch on topics such as our changing cultural landscape, issues of access, and the responsibility of the designer.

This year’s National Design Award winners Anne Whiston Spirn, Chad Oppenheim of Oppenheim Architecture + Design, John Christakos of Blu Dot, Michael Manfredi of Weiss/Manfredi, discuss the relationship between designers and the built environment and how they design for human experience. This intimate conversation will touch on topics such as their creative practice, challenges facing designers, and the collaborative nature of design.

This year’s National Design Award winners Christina Kim, Neri Oxman, and Mikyoung Kim of Mikyoung Kim Design discuss the interplay of technology and materials in design.
