School Groups

Cooper Hewitt offers free dynamic educational programs for school groups grades K – 12.

Design Field Trips

Design Field Trips is a 90-minute program that includes an exhibition tour and hands-on workshop. Teachers may register a class of up to 30 students and select the exhibition to share with the group. Students will first tour the exhibition with a Cooper Hewitt educator, who will lead students through an in-depth exploration of five or six objects in the exhibition. Following the tour, students will engage in a design workshop inspired by the exhibition.

K-12 Design Outreach

Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum invites your class to participate in a new K-12 Design Outreach program that immerses students in the design process. Moving from the classroom to the museum and then back to the classroom, students will engage in object-based learning and develop the creative problem-solving skills designers use to move from idea to implementation.
