Cooper Hewitt is seeking is seeking a highly experienced, dynamic and motivated Corporate Sponsorship Manager specializing in corporate giving and fundraising to manage all aspects of corporate support and membership for the museum and its initiatives.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
• Conducts prospect research of corporate entities, and develops a targeted strategy, including looking at past supporters and former prospects.
• Develop high quality sponsorship proposals in coordination with Curatorial, Digital and Emerging Media Departments, for exhibitions, National Design Awards, and special projects; draft cover letters and/or email.
• Prepares accurate corporate briefings and museum information packets for meetings with prospects. Create appropriate follow up to all calls and meetings.
• Provide professional support to senior staff for corporate solicitations.
• Works closely with Smithsonian Institution to create gift agreements.
• Generate invoices, ensure payments are received, and draft and send acknowledgement letters.
• Maintain timely moves management, contact information, and follow-up actions in PANDA and SI database, as well as current upkeep of all prospect lists
• Oversees preparation of accurate exhibition and program fact sheets.
• Coordinates and tracks all aspects of corporate sponsorships, from contract execution to benefits fulfillment (including invitations, catalogues, and assistance with special events).
• Develops high quality sponsorship reports in a timely manner in coordination with various internal departments.
• Manages corporate (and university, association, etc.) membership program. Researches, contacts, and meets with company officials with interest and authority to join corporate member program.
• Keeps abreast of key corporate moves and changes (WSJ, NYT, etc.); writes and distributes weekly email digests of corporate news. Draft congratulatory letters to key executives regarding promotions/new appointments.
• Oversees credits for exhibitions, programs, National Design Awards, and other projects.
• Ensure each sponsor is correctly recognized in all appropriate museum donor listings and on all materials produced in conjunction with sponsored programs. Keeps crediting information up to date and accurate at all times. In addition, assists with annual Donor Listing at the close of each fiscal year, ensuring that all corporate gifts and gifts-in-kind are recorded accurately.
• Organizes and grows the National Design Week Business Breakfast.
• Supports the growth of Institutional Giving research and cultivation of new and existing prospects with a focus on potential multi-year relationships. Updates databases and alert appropriate staff.
• Ensure exceptional stewardship of major donors, always improving relationships.
• Provides support to department with filing, scheduling, maintaining supplies, and other tasks as needed.
• Works closely with the Director of Advancement to create a robust strategy and long term engagement with Corporate Members and Partners
• A Bachelor’s degree or Master’s Degree is highly desired.
• Three years (minimum) of fundraising experience, working directly with corporate donors.
• Proven and highly successful track record of corporate fundraising.
• Experience writing, vetting, and proofing a wide range of reports and documents for senior management.
• Ability to identify corporate prospects and provide strategies to secure funding.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a development team.
• Ability to communicate verbally, share ideas in professional manner.
• Ability to communicate in writing and produce documents and high-level, error-free, confidential reports.
• Superb vetting and proofreading skills.
• Ability to organize and track a wide variety of correspondence and documents.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite programs, prospect research tools, fundraising databases (Raiser’s Edge, etc.)
• Ability to meet or exceed deadlines by demonstrating initiative and ownership of projects
• Interest and background in design, art, and museums preferred
• Must be able to work collaboratively across all departments and especially with CH Advancement teams.
SALARY: $59,173 to $67,061
