Cooper Hewitt seeks a motivated and organized administrator to join its fundraising team as Advancement Associate. The Associate reports to the Chief Advancement Officer and liaises with colleagues – in the department, at the museum, and across the Smithsonian Institution – to support the full range of advancement functions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Advancement Associate provides logistical, technical and administrative support across advancement functions, including: gift processing and acknowledgement delivery; finance and analytics; CRM updates and reports; constituent and prospect management; project, data, systems, and procedures management; purchasing, dispatches and correspondence; timekeeping and calendaring; event and meeting coordination and support; and general department and office management.
Working closely with the Chief Advancement Officer, the incumbent will have an excellent opportunity to experience the full range of advancement operations in the museum and cross-Smithsonian contexts.
The incumbent will take on other duties as assigned, including representing the museum and interacting with a wide range of colleagues and supporters, participating in development-related special events that entail some evening and weekend hours.
Three to four years’ experience in administration and operations (including database and finance functions) in a fast-paced nonprofit or mission-driven context.
Enthusiasm for systematic organization.
Excellent computer skills (including CRM experience and standard office management software, particularly Excel).
Interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and organization.
A team spirit, the ability to take both initiative and direction, and a comfort level with problem-solving and prioritization.
SALARY: $66,757 to $68,981
The Smithsonian uses the General Schedule (GS) pay scale for Trust and Federally funded positions. This is a Trust funded position at Grade 09 steps 01 to 02.
TEMPORARY TRUST APPOINTMENT:
This is a full-time one-year appointment which is renewable annually.

Hybrid Telework Available (A minimum of 3 days a week on-site is required. Full Time Remote is not approved for this position).
