From top: shoe designs by Jen Kao, Noritaka Tatehana, and Proenza Schouler

One of the joys of design is its relentless pursuit of variation. Textbook design objects like the chair, cup, and lamp are reworked again and again – conduits for observation and interpretation of our most basic human tasks.

Shoelust is a blog devoted to a familiar material mainstay: the shoe. The blog has no captions, no analysis, no text, just image after image of bold, imaginative shoe designs. But the blog isn't just about pleasure in shoe-gazing. After scrolling through Shoelust's cascade of photographs, one can't help but reflect on design's determination to continually rethink, revamp, and reinvent.
