Focusing on School Improvement

Cooper-Hewitt's Education team spent an amazing week in New Orleans with 26 educators from New York City, San Antonio, New Orleans and Washington, D.C. Although their day jobs include teaching subjects from across the curriculum, including math and science as well as social studies and history, they all became designers for the week and solved a design challenge that focused on school improvement.

Remembering Sam Farber

It is with great sadness that Cooper-Hewitt mourns the loss of businessman and self-described “design junkie,” Sam Farber. The founder of the kitchenware companies Copco and OXO, Farber truly understood what design can do to improve the quality of life. He recognized that good design reflects not just aesthetic appeal, but enhances the emotional, behavioral, and social aspects of everyday activities.
