Baltimore powerhouse Ultra Naté introduces her most accomplished set to the world. Her latest offering, "Grime, Silk and Thunder," is a spiritual journey through a life that celebrates glory, love, anguish, passion, joy, pain, and satisfaction. The album covers the spectrum from club-bangers and soulful house, to electro-boogie to pop gems and hybrid-disco. Ultra effortlessly revives the high energy and raw, soulful passion that's been all but forgotten on the dance floors. This is a much-welcomed return to form.

Ultra's state-of-the-dancefloor aesthetic is fueled by explosive productions and crisp textures. The title "Grime, Silk and Thunder" was inspired by the heroic 90's grunge band Nirvana. It came after reading a Rolling Stone article about Nirvana's album "Nevermind" in which Kurt Cobain described it as a great mix of "grime, silk and thunder." "In relationship to me," Ultra explains, "that description had an elemental feeling, kind of like earth, wind and fire but in an edgier form." Ultra has tried to bring those elements to the beats, songs, lyrics and vocal performances contained on this new album conceived as a valentine to the DJs, dancers and club culture.

Ultra continues, "My first experiences in the music scene were from the perspective of the dancer: I was a club kid and I loved it! The dancers are connected to the DJ and the relationship they create through the music is a give and take of spiritual, emotional and physical energy. This record is a gift to all who have ever experienced that kinetic power: pure, raw and organic." Ultra Naté taps into and revisits the essence of music and sounds, which have evolved from the DJ crates to iPods. Music that embraces many styles with fiery vocal stylings, thumping bass and in your face beats. Having survived this business of music for the better part of 17 years as a singer, songwriter, producer, DJ, businesswoman, mother and inspiration to many, "Grime, Silk and Thunder" picks up where her international hit single "Free" and subsequent club anthems like "Twisted," "If You Could Read My Mind" and "Desire" left off–with a jubilant, celebratory energy and pulse to keep a party rocking! This sparkling gem of a release amounts to another benchmark in that it's released in partnership with Silver Label/Tommy Boy Records, on Ultra's own imprint, Blufire.
