DJ Reborn

Chicago native DJ Reborn has been pleasing crowds for over a decade with her mellifluous blend of Soul, Hip-hop, Reggae, House, Afrobeat and more. Now residing in Brooklyn, NY, this creative soul is not just a party DJ. Her sounds have been heard everywhere from corporate gatherings for Armani and Calvin Klein, to MTV's post-awards party for Lauryn Hill, as well as a private birthday bash for Maxwell. She has worked with The Bronx Museum and is a resident DJ for "Uptown Fridays," at The Studio Museum in Harlem. Throughout her career, Reborn has been the opening DJ at live shows for such renowned artists as The Roots, India Arie. Common, CaronWheeler, Talib Kweli, Saul Williams and most recently John legend. In the summer of 2003, she provided the music for the Russell Simmons annual Art for Life benefit. A highlight that year was being selected as the DJ for the 2004 Urban Word Teen Poetry Slam Competition in New York, hosted by Kanye West.

Another career highlight has been Reborn's four appearances on BET's Rap City. She has been featured in SCRATCH, TRACE, URB and NRG magazines. Reborn was the Musical Director and live onstage DJ for the Off-Broadway Hip-Hop Theatre hit, Flow, starring Will Power. Flow continues to tour around the US and abroad, and in March, 2004 Flow won the Best Theatre award at the prestigious HBO Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. While on hiatus from Flow, Reborn was the 2004/05 international tour DJ for Russell Simmon's DEF POETRY JAM. Reborn's strong belief in community is what motivates her to continue her work as an educator. She facilitates creative writing and DJing workshops for New York City youth and other teens while on tour. Reborn's musical versatility and enduring reputation is what makes her one of today's most respected and sought after talents.

DJ Selly

It has been more than ten years of spinning for this Lower East Side DJ who continues to successfully canvas the New York City area with her anti- radio message. Selly began her career as a college DJ who later spread her sound throughout the event and nightlife scenes in New York as well as internationally.

Many places have been home to this lover of sound. Guernica, Sutra Lounge, Cafe Aubette, LudlowBar Remote Lounge, 8 West and La Linea are just a few of the places in which she has held weekly residences lasting for years. Her international ventures have included guest spots in London, Zurich, Spain, and Italy.

Although Selly's signature mix features obscure American and British soul, her musical repertoire has grown throughout the years to embrace Nu-Jazz, Broken Beat, ultra lounge and house music alike. Her philosophy states "if it is quality music that cannot find a place on the radio... it deserves a chance to be heard in some capacity... enter the role of a DJ and musical educator. If Disc Jockeys only played tunes already over exposed during current radio play... how would crowds in night life ever be privy to any other sound? How could music ever truly progress if some people did not take a risk and state out loud diverse whispers buried within the internet world?"

DJ Moni

DJ Moni began collecting vinyl at the age of nine - once her parents finally succumbed to buying her a turntable after moving to the US from Colombia. The Caribbean and African rhythms she grew up with met the bass-heavy hip hop, electro, and new wave sounds of the early eighties. Growing up, her love for music and dance was just as deep and encompassing as her love for the arts. After graduating college Moni worked for an independent record label exploring early house, trip hop and jungle and in 1997 moved to New York. That's when she started booking and promoting club nights featuring DJs, live drum & bass and visual artists. Soon she was inspired to return to the decks professionally at her weekly party, La Chaza. This was an open format for underground music where she spun alongside Bob Sinclar, Spinna, Jonathan Rudnick, JC (Amalgamation of Soundz), Russ Jones, Smash, Qool DJ Marv, Carol C, Maurice Fulton, Gamall, Chris Annibell & Neil Aline. DJ Moni has since held residencies throughout the city and her clients have included Issey Miyake, Dwell Magazine, Joe's Pub, Sephora and TV Azteca.

Her passion for both music and photography led her to work with Giant Step, documenting live shows through stills and digital video for three years. Her photos have been published in Rolling Stone, Spin, The Fader, Time Out NY, Jazziz and Billboard - to name a few.

In 2003 she joined the Ubiquita family while it was still at the legendary Save the Robots LES space, Guernica. Her DJ experience soon thereafter expanded into theater. In 2004, DJ Reborn asked her to be her replacement to tour nationally with the critically acclaimed hip hop theater show, Flow, providing a live on-stage score - scratching and mixing on cue to great reviews in the LA Times and Washington Post. In DC, Flow was nominated for Outstanding Non-Resident Production in the 2005 Helen Hayes Theater Awards. Last year she worked as musical director/DJ for the hip hop theater productions Welcome to Arroyo's, ManChild, and recently for a benefit production raising $260K for Youth Communications. In addition she has been a resident artist in the New York public school system, teaching students the fundamentals of DJ'ing, scratching and mixing and currently teaches after-school arts programs to elementary & junior high students. She is also producing music, most recently creating the original score for the We Got Issues national theater tour.

Currently she's working on an online radio/webTV show to feature all the artists that she loves, finishing her site www.djmoni.com, collaborating on her first record, and DJ'ing new parties and events in NYC and in a city near you!
