Summer Sessions » Cosmo

As well as being recognised as a premier club DJ, Cosmo has a worldwide reputation in broadcasting. She held one of the most revered dance mix radio shows in her native New York for seven years and prior to that hosted several radio shows devoted to punk rock, new wave, alternative and sixties psychedelic and progressive rock. She was a commercial radio jock in Japan and produced music magazine shows which were syndicated on over 250 radio stations across the U.S.A. She currently airs mixes on the most eminent music websites worldwide.

Cosmo's seamless sets have also been permanently documented. Her compilation on Yellow, "The Disco Tech of Cosmo", celebrated Cosmo's musical heritage and Time Out London described it as "One of the best comps of the year". As Compilation of the Month, DJ Magazine noted, "She stands supreme as a link between the city where modern dance music's history was born and the country where- lets allow ourselves a little Anglocentric arrogance here - its future is mapped out." This is Cosmo's third foray into the compilation world as she co-produced the critically acclaimed "David Mancuso Presents The Loft" series on Nuphonic and compiled and mixed "New York Afterhours: A Later Shade of Deep" on Nervous in 1998.

Throughout her career Cosmo has demonstrated a deep understanding of music and has been profiled as an artist of integrity with major kudos from the best DJs and producers on the planet. Like the Miles Davis album after which it is named, Cosmo's record label Bitches Brew is a fusion of musical styles and receives the highest accolades from her peers:

"The Bitches Brew label is about NOW, with a solid foundation in the ancient traditions of the drum and the roots of modern dance music. Each release has showcased a spectrum of lively musicianship, composition and talent. Forget about a shelf life--Bitches Brew records will have a half-life!" Tomas Palermo, Editor, XLR8R Magazine, Radio Host, KUSF FM 90.3

"Every Bitches Brew release that drops through the door has me boggling round the room within seconds - always quality and a truly international sound that mashes up so many styles but always comes out clean. Good vibrations!" Rob Da Bank, Radio Host, BBC Radio One

Many of the productions on Bitches Brew are co-produced by Cosmo such as Bambú's cult classic cover of Sergio Mendes' "The Real Thing" and Linda Williams' "Elevate Your Mind". Cosmo Presents Ch'i is a project that focuses on her songwriting and production talents. "Mistaken" is the follow up to her first Ch'i production "Loneliness" on Suburban. Cosmo co-produced Bitches Brew's debut artist Jinadu and remixed S.U.M.O.'s "Ntujjo" which Ashley Beedle claimed was one of the best house records of the year. Cosmo also collaborated with Danny Wang as Light Fantastic for the uber-cool German label Playhouse and with Ben Mitchell (Sao Benitez / Mr. Hermano) as Tidal on Disorient. She is currently working on new material under the moniker Wild Rumpus with former Captain Beefheart guitarist Gary Lucas. Their upcoming single "Musical Blaze-Up" is already receiving major support from BBC radio stations Radio One and `Radio Six. She has also remixed Desmond Dekker's "Sweet Music" which will be released on Trojan in Autumn 2007.

"Cosmo's popularity has grown through word-of-mouth recommendation rather than press hype, with props coming from the highest-ranking DJ's themselves." Dave Swindells, Time Out London

"She's very devoted and very pure about the music. She's one of the only people I would trust, both with the music and with the equipment, to fill in for me." David Mancuso, The Loft
