Cooper-Hewitt: Material Use

Event Date:
Tuesday, November 30, 2010

In any given day, we touch or handle thousands of different materials that are fundamental to our daily lives: a clay pot to hold the food for our dinner, a plastic toothbrush to perform our morning regimen, and a wool sweater to keep us warm and protected. Facing a simultaneous decrease in resources and an increase in products across all design disciplines, how will we construct our future environment, and with what materials? In a conversation moderate by Andrew H. Dent, PhD, Vice President , Library & Materials Research for Material Connexion, hear from Francois Azambourg, designer of the Lin 94 chair, Eben Bayer, CEO and Co-founder of Ecovative, and Dafna Alsheh, Supply Chain Manager for Icestone, all products and companies featured in the National Design Triennial: Why Design Now?.
