Color Lives: A Conversation about Art, Life, and Fashion

Textiles serve as the most engaging and tactile vehicle for color and life. They wrap, protect, and define us, and tell stories of the maker, user, and culture in which they were woven. This lively conversation with fashion curator, Dilys Blum; artist, Sheila Hicks; and designer, Luca Missoni will cover topics related to current exhibitions and recent projects related to textiles, the influence of the fine arts on their textile making and thinking, and how textiles have been woven from each of their lives.

The Right Shoes

Shortly after the Color Moves: Art and Fashion by Sonia Delaunay exhibition opened, I received a call from the Museo Salvatore Ferragamo in Florence. The exhibition features a show-stopping coat designed by Delaunay for the actress Gloria Swanson.

Pattern Inspiration: Sonia Delaunay and Fashion

As New York Fashion Week Fall 2011 draws to a close, I wanted to compare some beautiful textile patterns that fashion designers this past year have shown with selected objects from our upcoming exhibition, Color Moves: Art and Fashion by Sonia Delaunay.
