Doodle 4 Google: What I Wish for the World

Doodle 4 Google: What I Wish for the World presents 39 designs selected among tens of thousands of entries submitted by K–12 students from all 50 states in Google's annual "Doodle 4 Google" design competition. Inspired by the theme "What I Wish for the World," children from across the United States were challenged to think like designers and utilize Google's iconic logo as a springboard to convey their message. The submissions represent a vast array of wishes, from environmental conservation to improvements in housing, health, and education.

Design Thinking for Educators

One of Cooper-Hewitt’s missions is to aid educators in seeing themselves and their students as designers. One of the ways we work toward this goal is through our Educator Resource Center, an online resource for K-12 educators, which hosts lesson plans, a conversation board, and videos of design experts speaking about best practices in design-based education.

Sharing design with students in the Midwest

People often forget that Cooper-Hewitt is a Smithsonian museum and with that comes a commitment to spreading the word about design across the country. As part of our A City of Neighborhoods program we teach K-12 teachers from coast to coast how to bring design thinking into their classroom.

It is time for you to teach the teacher

Were you the kid doodling in the back of the classroom? During gym did you draw elaborate designs on your arm with a Bic pen while waiting to be picked for a team?
