How many bubbles do you like?

Those who drink champagne have varying ideas how bubbly it should be. This glass prompted me to think about how the shape of a glass affects the taste of champagne. Although we tend to associate saucer-style champagne glasses with elegant figures from the 1920s, this shape existed well before then.

To Celebrate the Moment

This exhibition documents the relationship between design and celebration. Among the objects on view are photographs of snow sculptures at Dartmouth College, printed Christmas stockings, a drawing by Erté for the “Emerald” costume worn at Paul Poiret’s 1913 Jewel Ball, greeting cards, and commemorative objects. Organized by Richard Oliver, Curator of Architecture and Design.
