Arthur Ross Terrace and Garden

Designed by the Philadelphia-based Kieran Timberlake Associates LLP, Smartwrap is a concept for a customizable building material that incorporates emerging technologies in heating, lighting, and solar energy in a building’s façade. This thin, pigment-based cladding was created to take the place of concrete mortar and bricks.

For this inaugural Solos exhibition, a series that will serve as a laboratory for emerging practices and technologies, Smartwrap was installed on a metal pavilion in Cooper-Hewitt’s Arthur Ross Garden. Solos: SmartWrap was organized by Matilda McQuaid, Head of the Textile Department at Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum.
