The ERC will launch a series of new activities that coincide with the People’s Design Award. These lesson plans are aligned to national standards for all grade levels to help teachers learn ways to promote innovation, critical thinking, visual literacy, and problem-solving across the curriculum.

National Design Awards

National Design AwardsThe centerpiece of National Design Week will be the National Design Awards Gala on October 18. Established in 2000 to broaden awareness of the role of design in daily life, the Awards honor individuals in all areas of design, as well as its patrons and supporters.

This year the ceremony will include a People's Design Award, determined by an online voting system. From September 17 to October 16, the public can nominate and vote for their favorite designs at www.cooperhewitt.org. The winner will be announced live at the National Design Awards Gala in New York City.
