Fifth Annual National Design Awards Dinner Date: Tuesday, October 19, 2004 Location: Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, Smithsonian Institution 2 East 91st Street (at Fifth Avenue) Time: 6:30 p.m.: Cocktails in the Museum's Great Hall followed by the awards presentation and dinner in the Arthur Ross Terrace and Garden Leadership: Richard Meier, Chairman; Beth Rudin DeWoody, Reed Krakoff, Murray Moss, and Deedie Rose, Vice-Chairmen Beneficiary: Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, Smithsonian Institution Background: Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum's collection, which was started more than 100 years ago, has always explored ways in which design affects daily life. The only museum in the United States devoted exclusively to historic and contemporary design, and the repository of the largest design collection in the country-comprising more than a quarter million artifacts and works of art-the Museum brings the best of design to a wide audience. As the Smithsonian Institution's design museum, Cooper-Hewitt serves to bridge the worlds of art, science, technology, and history.
