Diller Scofidio + Renfro is an interdisciplinary studio that fuses architecture with the visual and performing arts. DS + R's work includes architectural commissions, temporary and permanent site-specific installations, multimedia theater, electronic media, and print. The New York-based firm implements new materials, technologies, and construction processes in its projects and appropriates materials from unlikely sources, including the military, aerospace, and medical fields. In 1999, Elizabeth Diller and Richard Scofidio were the first architects ever to receive the MacArthur Foundation Award.
