Charles S. Anderson, a principle designer in the Duffy group, founded his own studio in 1989. Anderson's and Duffy's revisions of "naive" commercial art from the 1940s and 1950s capitalized on the nostalgia that gripped many American consumers during the Reagan/Bush years. Their packaging for Classico pasta sauce uses a glass jar with a screw-top lid and richly illustrated labels to envelope a mass produced product with an image suggesting hand-prepared food.
