We want to see your sweet designs. Share a valentine-inspired wallpaper that you create in the Immersion Room on Instagram, and you could win a free membership.

Instructions:

  • Now through February 14, design a valentine-themed wallpaper in the Immersion Room
  • Take a photo of your design and upload it to Instagram
  • Tag it #cooperhewittchallenge
  • The top design will be announced the week of Feb. 16. The lucky winner will receive a dual/family membership, $25 gift card to the Shop, and a dessert in our Tarallucci e Vino cafe.

OFFICIAL RULES

  1. Entrants must be natural persons, U.S. residents, and 18 years of age or older who visit the Cooper Hewitt between the dates of February 1 and February 14, 2015 except that entrants may not be a regent, officer, employee, fellow, intern, research associate, or volunteer of the Smithsonian Institution or a member of any of the foregoing’s immediate family or household.

  2. To enter, entrant must visit the Cooper Hewitt’s Immersion Room and (i) design create an original Valentine-inspired wallpaper design using the Immersion Room interactive table (get additional inspiration and ideas at cooperhewitt.org/vdaycontest), (ii) project the design on the wall, and (iii) take a photo of the design on the wall of the Immersion Room, and (iv) by midnight on February 14, 2015, upload it to Instagram and tag it #cooperhewittchallenge. Entries must be appropriate for all Smithsonian audiences and should not depict any commercial advertising content or any other third-party brand names, logos or trademarks, or make any references to alcoholic beverages, tobacco, drug paraphernalia, or firearms.

  3. Entrant may make multiple entries

  4. The Smithsonian will award ONE (1) prize. The prize is dual/family membership, $25 gift card to the Shop, and a dessert in the café Tarallucci e Vino, and has a fair market value of approximately US $175. If prize becomes unavailable for any reason, the Smithsonian reserves the right to substitute a prize of like or equal value. Winners may not request prize substitution. One prize per person.

  5. The Smithsonian will select the winner based on quality of composition and overall design the week of February 16, 2015; the Smithsonian will notify the winner via direct message on Instagram. If winner does not respond to the notification within five business days another winner will be chosen. Failure to respond within five business days means the winner forfeits the prize.

  6. Entry materials must: be lawful, true, and accurate; contain only the entrants own original material or material for which entrant has full authority and permission to grant the rights set forth in these rules; and not infringe on the rights of any third party. By entering, entrant warrants that the entry materials he or she submits comply with these rules.

  7. Entrants give the Smithsonian permission to use the entry materials her or she submits and the entrant’s name/Instagram handle, profile image, and likeness for all standard museum purposes, including promotions of the Cooper Hewitt, this challenge, and other museum activities.

  8. All entrants hold the Smithsonian, its regents, officers, employees, fellows, interns, research associates, and volunteers, and Instagram, harmless from and against all claims of any nature arising in connection with entrant’s participation in the contest, acceptance or use of prize. The Smithsonian and its regents, officers, employees, fellows, interns, research associates, and volunteers are not liable for any costs, damages, injuries, or other claims incurred as a result of entrants’ participation in the contest or winner’s acceptance and usage of the prize.

  9. Winners may be required to execute an affidavit of eligibility, publicity and liability release as a condition of receiving the prize.

  10. The Smithsonian is not responsible for incomplete or misdirected entries, technical or network malfunctions or failures, or causes beyond its control. Entrants are solely responsible for their entries. Entrants may not submit materials that introduce any software viruses, worms or other programs designed to damage software, hardware or telecommunications equipment or are off-topic, partisan-political, contain advertising, personal attacks or expletives, or is otherwise abusive, threatening, unlawful, harassing, discriminatory, libelous, obscene, false, pornographic, or that infringes on the rights of any third party. The Smithsonian reserves the right to disqualify any entrant whose entry or conduct appears in any way to: inhibit the enjoyment of others; tamper with the competition; violate these Rules; infringe on the rights of third parties; or act in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. The Smithsonian reserves the right to cancel the contest or modify these rules at any time for any reason at its discretion. In the event of a dispute regarding the winners, the Smithsonian reserves the right to award or not award the prizes in its sole discretion. By entering this contest, entrants agree to be bound by these Rules and the decisions of the Smithsonian, which are final and binding in all respects. No purchase necessary to enter or win. Contest void where prohibited. Winner is responsible for all taxes on the prize, if any.
