Celebrated fashion designer Sena Yang, creator of her namesake line SENA, led a two-session fashion workshop at Cooper-Hewitt for high-school students. The workshop was an exciting opportunity for students to create original prints and a concept for a collection based on their own designs.

Sena started the workshop with a bang when she shared behind-the-scenes photos and designs she made while interning for Alexander McQueen. She then identified different kinds of prints and their many appearances on the runway. Inspired to start designing, the students transformed the space into a fashion studio where ideas and wispy paper cutouts flitted about the room. Students sketched multiple ideas for their prints before settling on their final design. After their final print motif was scaled down and repeated, students applied their prints to miniature templates of their final collection.

By the end of the workshop, students had created collections that were cohesive, captivating, and ready to hit the production line!
