With the Pavilion des Arts et Design at the Tuileries last week, Paris was buzzing with design. I loved the Kartell windows with comments about design by such stars as Patrick Jouin and Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, shown below, applied to the windows on Boulevard St. Germain. And of course I don’t go to Paris without visiting Merci, the wonderful design store/bookstore/café conceived by Marie-France and Bernard Cohen, the founders of Bonpoint, on 111 Boulevard Beaumarchais. A highlight of the trip was a visit to Patrick Seguin, whose gallery is filled with gems by Prouve, Perriand, Le Corbusier and Jeanneret, in a Bastille space renovated in genius fashion by John Nouvel to reflect the early 20th century factory without changing its original character. And, just across the bridge, l’Institut Arabe, another Parisian masterpiece by Jean Nouvel.

Also enjoyed Pierre Charpin’s beautiful mosaic table and Hella Jongerius’ latest creations with light as well as the fun circular rugs by the Bouroullec Brothers at the Galerie Kreo.
